NU Online News Service, June 19, 2003, 11:59 a.m. EDT – The Health Insurance Association of America, Washington, and the National Association of Health Underwriters, Arlington, Va., are joining to create two new disability income insurance professional designations.

The groups will offer the Disability Income Associate designation to independent agents, brokers, home-office employees, financial planners and others who complete three courses dealing with disability insurance.

Students who complete five courses will qualify for the Disability Healthcare Professional designation.

HIAA will supply the courses and textbooks for the designation programs, and NAHU will help HIAA market the courses and textbooks to its 18,000 members, the groups say.
