Principal Teams Up With American Healthways

NU Online News Service, Sept. 25, 11:39 a.m. – The Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa., has selected American Healthways Inc., Nashville, Tenn., to help it provide disease-management programs for self-funded employee welfare benefit plans.

Principal will offer employers a choice of five different American Healthways “Care Enhancement Program” packages.

Each package includes a combination of programs for supporting and educating employees who have serious acute diseases or serious chronic illnesses, Principal says.

Services include one-to-one nurse counseling, monitoring for early signs of health complications and advisory services for the physicians treating the patients.
