NU Online News Service, Feb. 8, 11:44 a.m. –The Iowa Life and Health Insurance Association, Des Moines, Iowa, has merged with the Iowa Managed Care Association, also of Des Moines.
The combined organization, which operates as the Federation of Iowa Insurers, represents 26 life insurers, health insurers and financial services companies.
The member carriers have hired John Schachterle to be executive director of the federation. Schachterle is a lawyer with Williams, Blackburn, Hudson & Maharry P.L.C., Des Moines. He previously has served as the executive vice president of the Iowa Managed Care Association and as a lobbyist for the Iowa Association of Candy and Tobacco Distributors.
The federation will be using Jim West and Paula Dierenfeld of Nyemaster, Goode, Voigts, West, Hansell & O’Brien P.C., Des Moines, as its legislative counsel.
