Texas HMO To Offer Web-Based "Office Visits"

NU Online News Service, July 20, 11:55 a.m. – Texas Health Choice L.C., Dallas, a health maintenance organization, will be offering Web-based “office visits” to some members in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

One of the carrier’s biggest primary care provider groups, MedicalEdge Healthcare Group, Dallas, has bought a Web medicine system from Medfusion Inc., Research Triangle Park, N.C.

MedicalEdge doctors can use the system to schedule appointments, refer patients to specialists, handle minor medical problems and refill prescriptions.

Doctors can also use the system to put patients’ medical records on the Web.

Texas Health is a subsidiary of Sierra Health Services Inc., Las Vegas.
