When Bob Doll, chief investment officer of Crossmark Global Investments, published his annual list of 10 predictions for 2022 in early January, he had little way of knowing that the markets and global economy would soon be facing a "black swan" event in the form of a Russia-Ukraine war. Concerns raised by the war include the already high price of oil climbing higher, the possibility that China may feel emboldened to invade and take control of Taiwan, and the possibility of another recession, Doll warned. But advisors and investors should continue to focus on their long-term investment plans and not get spooked to do otherwise, he told ThinkAdvisor in a phone interview on Monday. During the conversation, he pointed to 10 key issues for advisors and investors to keep in mind in 2022 based on what's happening in Europe, continued inflation and other factors.
