Baird Nabs $850M Morgan Stanley Reps

The advisors move from the wirehouse to Baird in Yakima, Washington, and Durango, Colorado.

Baird says three Morgan Stanley advisors have agreed to join its Private Wealth Management offices in Yakima, Washington, and Durango, Colorado, with a combined $850 million in assets.

Charles Patrick O’Connorwho works with about $450 million in client assets, is now a senior vice president in Yakima. He cut his teeth in the business at Smith Barney starting in 1998, according to FINRA BrokerCheck, and then moved to Morgan Stanley in 2009 as part of its purchase of the entity, which was then owned by Citigroup.

Thomas Helms and Scott Shadid, who have a combined $400 million in assets, are now part of Baird in Colorado. Helms went to work in the business at Morgan Stanley starting in 2007. Shadid joined the wirehouse in 2013. 

Helms, a certified financial planner, will serve as a director at Baird, while Shadid will be a senior vice president. 

Baird’s Private Wealth Management business includes about 1,300 advisors and client assets of about $255 billion. 

The firm’s latest recruiting news comes nearly a month after Baird said Pittsburgh-based Hefren-Tillotson agreed to join it. The wealth management firm has about $18 billion in client assets and roughly 90 financial advisors.
