Schwab, Pershing 2021 Conferences to Be Virtual

Both conferences are virtual due to the pandemic and will be free.

Schwab Impact 2021 and Pershing Insite 2021 will both be virtual events this year, due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.

“Schwab had high hopes of bringing Schwab IMPACT 2021 back in person, but with an event that involves more than 5,000 people and the uncertainty of what conditions will be like in the fall, the decision was reached that IMPACT 2021 will be a two-day predominantly virtual event on Oct. 19-20,” according to a statement from the firm.

Virtual attendance will be free, and Schwab expects to provide in-person networking for small groups of advisors in locations around the country. Those locations and the agenda for the conference were not disclosed. Last year’s Schwab Impact was also a virtual event.

Pershing Insite 2021

Unlike Schwab, BNY Mellon’s Pershing canceled its Insite event in 2020 amid the raging pandemic. This year, however, it is also planning a virtual event, from June 8 to 10.

Live one-hour sessions are to run from 11 a.m. to noon Eastern time daily, along with on-demand sessions on the future of wealth management, the labor force, regulations, financial markets and market trends (like SPACs, and structured products).

The Insite sessions feature VIP speakers like financial planner and blogger Michael Kitces, as well as conversations with CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Tony- and Grammy-winning performer Leslie Odom Jr. Live session topics include how advisory firms can position themselves for success and do more with less.

Rosie Rios, who served as U.S. treasurer under President Barack Obama, will headline the session focusing on a CEO case study of saving $1 billion while increasing production and morale. As treasurer and as a visiting scholar at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, she was focused on raising the profile of women on U.S. currency and in U.S. history.

2021 In-Person Conferences

Unlike the Schwab and Pershing events, several in-person conferences for advisors will take place this year, including the annual events from the Financial Planning Association, Skybridge Capital (SALT) and Inside ETFs, in Columbus, Ohio; New York City; and Hollywood, Florida, respectively.

Morningstar’s annual conference will be a hybrid event, including live sessions at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, its usual conference venue.
