Pershing Taps Former Goldman Sachs Exec as COO

Emily Schlosser replaces Jim Crowley as compliance chief a year after the former CCO was tapped to lead the BNY Mellon business.

BNY Mellon’s Pershing says Emily Schlosser, the former head of change for Goldman Sach’s Global Markets Division, is now its chief operating officer. The new hire replaces Jim Crowley, who was tapped to be the firm’s CEO a year ago and has served as its COO since mid-2017.

“With her proven track record of … success creating best-in-class client on-boarding solutions, Emily will be integral in our efforts to continually elevate the advisor and investor experience,” said Crowley, in a statement.

Schlosser, who was with Goldman for the past three years, also served as COO of E-Trade. She cut her teeth in the business at AXA Equitable from 2003 to 2006, did an MBA at Columbia University and then worked for A.T. Kearney for six years, before jumping to E-Trade in 2014, according to her LinkedIn profile.

In her new role, Schlosser will focus on efforts to serve institutional clients online and create “new revenue streams, build scale and manage risk and regulatory obligations,” the firm said.

The news of Schlosser’s hiring comes less than two months after Mark Tibergien retired from his role as head of Pershing’s RIA custody business. This role was filled by Benjamin Harrison, then head of  business  development and relationship management for the advisory segment.
