Senate Panel to Hold SEC Nomination Hearing for Peirce, Crenshaw
Peirce would get a second term as commissioner; Crenshaw would take Jackson's seat.
The Senate Banking Committee plans to hold a nomination hearing on July 21 for Securities and Exchange Commission members Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw.
The White House sent Peirce’s nomination to be reappointed as a commissioner at the SEC to the Senate on June 8.
Peirce, a Republican, was sworn in on Jan. 11, 2018. Her second term would expire on June 5, 2025.
President Donald Trump announced on June 18 his intent to nominate Crenshaw.
If approved by the full Senate, Crenshaw will replace former SEC Commissioner Robert Jackson, a Democrat, who left his SEC seat in February to return to teaching at New York University School of Law.
Crenshaw is an attorney at the SEC who worked in Jackson’s office.
