Carr Named Chief Advisory Officer of WMS Partners

The former PNC exec is set to head up team of 30 financial professionals serving the Baltimore wealth market.

WMS Partners, a wealth manager based near Baltimore, has named Laura M. Carr principal and chief advisory officer. She will lead a team of 30 financial professionals and join the firm’s operating committee.

Earlier, Carr was with PNC Wealth Management, where she was a senior vice president and COO.

“With nearly three decades in the wealth and investment management space, Laura brings a unique set of leadership skills and experiences to the firm,” according to WMS Partners CEO Todd Wickwire. “We are thrilled that someone with Laura’s background and track record of success will be part of our senior leadership team.”

WMS Partners manages some $4 billion in client assets and has about 60 employees.

Prior to her COO position at PNC, Carr served led the firm’s asset management, administrative and operational activities, as well as its retirement-plan services and proprietary institutional asset-management businesses. She began her career at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust Company, a predecessor of PNC Bank.

“The WMS brand is well established and highly respected in the wealth management space,” Carr said in a statement. “I’m excited to be part of this dynamic team and look forward to bringing my years of experience to continue to build on the firms many successes.”

Carr earned an MBA from Loyola University Maryland.
