Myra Palmer has taken over as the 2019 chair of the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA), a group for life insurance distributors.

Palmer is the president of the Palmer Agency, a life insurance brokerage agency in Decatur, Georgia. Her father, Howard Palmer, founded the firm in 1961, and she has been with the firm herself since 1980. She has also been active in the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

Palmer succeeds Jeff Mooers of Lafayette, California.

Chad Milner of Lawrenceville, Georgia, is now the NAILBA chair-elect.

Jason Lea of Providence, Rhode Island, is the secretary-treasurer.

Dan LaBert continues to be NAILBA’s chief executive officer.

NAILBA represents about 300 independent brokers and brokerage general agencies. The BGAs serve as pipes that help connect insurers with retail agents.

The group says it will be working this year to expand production of industry-related content, increase membership, and communicate with state and federal policymakers.

Palmer said in a statement that NAILBA and its annual meeting provide a barometer for the conditions facing wholesale brokerage distribution.

The NAILBA founders’ foresight “is what we stand on as we prepare to navigate the changes coming quickly at our industry,” Palmer said in the statement.

“I look forward to working with our Members and industry partners as we continue to build NAILBA’s legacy and strengthen our industry for generations ahead,” Palmer said.
