Beacon Pointe Welcomes Ex-UBS Exec as CIO

Newport Beach, California-based Beacon Pointe Advisors has brought in Michael Dow, formerly of UBS, as its new chief investment officer. Dow has also been named chairman of the 14-member Beacon Pointe Investment Committee.

Before joining, Dow served as managing director and head of U.S. Core Plus Bond, head of Sovereign Credit Research, and head of Emerging Market Corporate Debt at UBS Global Asset Management, where he was responsible for portfolio management, research, trading and strategy across the UBS global platform for these products.

Earlier, he was in academia as an adjunct professor, as well as serving as guest lecturer at the University of Illinois, Northwestern University and Notre Dame. Prior to that, he was with Pimco in a variety of roles, most recently as an investment grade corporate bond portfolio manager, where he held joint responsibility for strategy, portfolio management and trading investment-grade corporate bonds across the Pimco platform.

Dow holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.
