Advisors are converging on New Orleans this week for the Envestnet | PMC Advisor Summit 2018. With more than 2,000 attendees registered, organizers say this will be the largest summit in the event’s seven-year history — with sessions focusing on technology, portfolio management, best practices, ESG investing, muni market changes, strategists’ solutions, data management and more.

“We see a growing dependence on data, analytics and technology integration across financial services,” said Envestnet Chairman and CEO Jud Bergman, in a statement. “At this year’s Advisor Summit, we will explore ways that networked advisors can adapt and leverage tools that can elevate their value and success as their businesses grow and evolve.”

Speakers include Bergman and Envestnet President Bill Crager, who will present the opening keynote. Other speakers include Envestnet | Yodlee CEO Anil Arora, who will share a business update and outlook; social psychologist Amy Cuddy, the best-selling author of “Presence: Bringing your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges” discussing the behavioral science of power, presence and prejudice; and Ted Benna, known as the “father of the 401(k),” who is set to share his views on what can be expected for employer sponsored retirement plans.

Training & More Training

Attendees also can attend the first-ever Envestnet Technology University pre-conference workshop to learn about platform features and best practices, as well as Tamarac University sessions on trading, reporting and customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities.

There’s also the Yodlee Customer Summit, focusing on the Envestnet | Yodlee Financial Data Platform and Financial Wellness offering, and the Envestnet Retirement Solutions Technology University. Plus, registered investment advisors can take advantage of pre-conference Tamarac platform sessions.

New additions to this year’s Advisor Summit include session tracks specifically designed for different audiences, such as RIAs and broker-dealer reps, advanced trading workshops, and meet-the-expert opportunities that feature one-on-one session with Envestnet | PMC portfolio managers.

Awards & Other Activities

A highlight of the conference with be the Envestnet & Investment Advisor Asset Manager Awards, scheduled for Wednesday evening. This is the 14th year the awards are being presented to the best active managers in several categories, including U.S. Large-Cap Equity, U.S. Small and Mid-Cap Equity, International/Global Universe, Fixed Income, Impact and Strategist. One winner in these six categories also will be tapped as the overall Manager of the Year Award winner.

The name of the awards, previously known as the Separately Managed Account Manager and Strategist of the Year Awards, has been changed this year to better reflect the scope of the asset management industry and allow for the inclusion of more categories.

Envestnet also will announce the winners of the second annual Essential Advisor Awards, which recognized several professionals who embody the values detailed in the book “The Essential Advisor.”

Plus, a new award category — the Envestnet Institute on Campus (EIOC) Vision Awards — will be presented to individuals and firms who act as change agents for the wealth management industry.

With entertainment aplenty in New Orleans, Summit 2018 attendees will be treated to a show by stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco on Wednesday evening and a performance by 14-time Grammy winner Emmylou Harris at the House of Blues on Thursday night.
