National Planning Holdings – which includes four independent broker-dealers with about 3,400 advisors – says it hired Joseph “Jay” Vinson to serve as its national sales manager. Vinson used to head up business development for Cetera Advisors, a broker-dealer within the Cetera Financial Group.

NPH, which includes Invest Financial, Investment Centers of America (ICA), National Planning Corporation (NPC) and SII Investments (SII), also has tapped Tim Munsie to lead its advisory platform strategy. Munsie was previously with the Infinex Financial Group, where he led its advisory business and served as a portfolio manager for its proprietary investment models.

(The group is an affiliate of Jackson National Life, and both businesses are owned by Prudential PLC of the United Kingdom.)

“We are very pleased to announce these two new senior-level hires at the NPH network level,” said President & CEO Scott Romine, in a statement. “The recruitment of these two industry veterans is part of our broader initiative to prepare for the implementation of the new DOL fiduciary rule, as well as our ongoing strategy to provide our affiliated independent advisors and financial institutions with the highest quality resources and support that they need to succeed.”

Both of the new executives will be based in Denver.

Vinson oversees internal and external new business development, practice management and NPH’s WealthOne advisory sales team. In addition to working for Cetera, he has been with NEXT Financial, Mutual Service Corporation, Investors Financial Group and H.D. Vest Financial Services.

Munsie will be responsible for the strategy and evolution of NPH’s advisory platform, including all aspects of its products, pricing and technology. He also has worked from an independent financial advisory group affiliated with Lincoln Financial Securities and UBS Financial Services.

Romine moved to NPH this summer. He has been with Jackson National Life since 1997 and took a break for three years to serve as president and CEO of NPC.

“I’m a new CEO for National Planning Holdings, but I am not new to Jackson or the advisory world – having started out as an advisor at one of the wirehouses. My 25 years in retailing, wholesaling and related work is the common thread,” he explained in an interview. “I’m thrilled to be back in the network.”
