New Hire Roundup: Principal Financial Names Houston President, COO

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Daniel Houston moved up at Principal Financial Group and Christopher Clark was named co-portfolio manager at RS Investments.

Also, Kunal Shah and Caroline Rasmussen joined iCapital Network and Gladys Chow went to Giralda Advisors.

Principal Financial Group Names Houston COO

Principal Financial Group has announced that Daniel Houston has been named president and chief operating officer. He will report to Larry Zimpleman, whom he replaces in those positions. Zimpleman will continue as chairman and CEO.

Houston was president of retirement, insurance and financial services at Principal Financial Group, and will retain these responsibilities.

Clark Moves Up at RS Investments

RS Investments has announced that it has named Christopher Clark co-portfolio manager of the RS diversified growth funds, effective immediately.

Clark, who joined the firm in 2007, was previously an analyst on the team, focusing on the health care sector. He began his investment career in 2001. Prior to joining, he was a research associate at TIAA-CREF, where he focused on global portfolio management and the health care sector.

iCapital Network Adds Shah, Rasmussen

iCapital Network has announced that Kunal Shah has joined as senior vice president of fund manager due diligence and Caroline Rasmussen has joined as vice president of fund manager due diligence.

Shah was previously a principal at consulting and advisory firm Meketa Investment Group. Earlier, he served as an analyst for The Vanguard Group and worked in the private equity and research group of Hirtle, Callaghan & Co.

Rasmussen joins from Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, where she was a member of the firm’s project finance group. Prior to that, she was an analyst in the private fund group at UBS.

Giralda Advisors Welcomes Chow

Giralda Advisors, a Montage Investments company, has announced that Gladys Chow has joined as managing director and portfolio manager.

With more than 20 years in the investment and wealth management industry, Chow was recently a director of equities at TAG Associates LLC, a multiclient family office. Prior to that, she was a financial advisor at UBS Wealth Management. Earlier, she co-managed two U.S. money market funds for Cowen & Co. She also spent several years in Singapore, Hong Kong and Jakarta, where she served as vice president responsible for investment strategy and initiatives at BNP Private Banking, and as portfolio manager to GT Group’s two offshore fixed-income mutual funds.
