10 Ways to Connect With Clients Using Your iPad

No question about it, smart tablets have become an essential business tool for many advisors, who keep looking for innovative ways to use them. It’s all about maximization and client engagement, says Pershing Chief Information Officer Ram Nagappan.

The CIO (left) for Pershing, a BNY Mellon company, introduced “10 Ways to Connect With Your iPad” at Pershing’s Insite 2013 conference in June. The popular conference, held annually at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Fla., provides a forum for new NetX360 users to learn about platform updates.

But it also provides a good space for advisors and tech experts to share ideas and information about how they’re using their favorite gadgets, according to Nagappan.

The CIO noted back in May that a significant portion of BNY Mellon’s $2 billion technology budget goes to Pershing, and those funds give the unit the freedom to conduct extensive research and development projects for its NetX360 platform.  At the same time, Pershing employs dozens of beta geeks who study tech trends – including the latest in mobility.

“We have pinpointed 10 ways for advisors to collaborate using their iPads,” Naggapan said in May. “Consumers are getting technology from the manufacturer even before enterprises do, and that gap is widening. Advisors’ clients are demanding that NetX360 matches and exceeds what they’re already experiencing with their own technology, and that includes smart tablets such as the iPad.”

1) Projector, in Person

2) TV via HDMI Cable, in Person

Use an Apple VGA/HDMI adaptor to display on an HD TV exactly what is on your iPad. This is a great way to present in your office or in a client’s home.

3) TV via Apple TV, in Person

For office meetings, you can use Apple TV, connected to the same WiFi as your iPad, to display exactly what is on your iPad on an HD TV.

4) Monitor via Reflector, in Person

By using the Reflector software, while your laptop and iPad are on the same WiFi network, you can display exactly what is on your iPad to your laptop to better visualize with a client.
