The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian) has recruited 237 financial representatives in the third quarter of 2012.

Although unemployment was down a tick in September to 7.8 percent, it is still a major concern across the country and the top talking point in the presidential election. Hiring by companies in the financial sector is an especially auspicious harbinger as it indicates that overall, Americans’ finances are stabilizing, allowing them to invest and plan for their retirement or other future financial planning needs.

Guardian’s hiring in the third quarter brought their total number of new hires for 2012 up to 683, keeping them on pace to reach their stated goal of adding 840 new financial representatives this year.

Guardian has hired 150 female financial representatives in 2012 and last week announced that they want at least 28 percent of new financial representative recruits to be women in 2013.

Over the last few years, women have begun to populate Guardian’s ranks of financial representatives. “Women have such a unique and lucrative career opportunity as a financial representative and in fact, it’s the career every woman needs to know about,” said Emily Viner, vice president, Agency Management and Leadership Development for Guardian Life. ”Many women develop truly successful, meaningful careers as financial representatives, in part because it is a relationship-driven business.”
