Oldest Americans living longer, and are fitter and richer, too

Despite all of the worries about the support program budgets of the future, U.S. residents over age 65 are doing great today. Federal agencies have painted a bright picture in a new report on older Americans. The agencies say older Americans are more likely than they were 20 years ago to have jobs outside the home, a little more likely (although not likely enough) to be staying fit, and substantially more likely to be able to handle tasks such as shopping and preparing meals.
