Maine Residents Want More LTCI Information

Caregivers and long-term care (LTC) users in Maine wish they were hearing more about dementia and more about a variety of long-term-care-related financial topics.

Researchers at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine have presented that finding in a look at Maine residents’ personal LTC experiences prepared for the Maine Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.

The researchers do not say much about private long-term care insurance (LTCI).

But, in a review of the results from “listening sessions” that included care recipients, caregivers, state legislators and community leaders, the researchers report that the session participants said they need more information on dementia, living wills and other documents, Medicaid planning, general financial planning, and private LTCI coverage
