BondDesk Appoints Donald Swartz as New Head of Technology

BondDesk Group LLC announced Monday the appointment of Donald Swartz as head of technology. In this role, he will oversee the application engineering and development teams and manage the technology support and service delivery teams. He has more than 15 years of technology leadership experience at firms such as Freddie Mac, Capital One Financial Services and Sprint Corporation.

Tal Elyashiv, current head of technology, will be transitioning the position to Swartz beginning in April and will remain in an advisory capacity for the next 12 months.

Raymond James Names New Regional Director for Financial Institutions Division

John Houston, managing director of the financial institutions division (FID) of Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., announced recently that Jamie Kosharek has been promoted to southeast regional director for the division, which includes the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Kosharek first joined Raymond James in 2000 in risk management and compliance. Most recently she was director of national accounts and administration.

Fernandez and Grossman Join Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management

Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, the U.S. Private Client Services division of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management, announced March 21 that Kevin Fernandez and David Grossman have joined the bank as directors and client advisors in its Miami office, where they will assist high-net-worth individuals and families. They report to Thomas Morris, a managing director and regional executive for the Miami office.

Fernandez joins from Wells Fargo Advisors, where he was a senior vice president and financial advisor for the past 10 years. He began his career as a financial advisor with Dean Witter Reynolds before joining Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ).

Grossman also joins from Wells Fargo Advisors, where he was a vice president and financial advisor for the past four years. Previously, he held financial advisor positions with DLJ, Smith Barney and Dean Witter Reynolds, where he began his career.

Michael Kitces Made Partner At Pinnacle Advisory Group

Pinnacle Advisory Group, based in Columbia, Md., announced March 20 that Director of Research Michael Kitces has been made a partner of the firm.

Two years ago Financial Planning magazine labeled Kitces the industry’s “Deep Thinker,” and the Financial Planning Association presented him with the Heart of Financial Planning Award. Kitces is co-author of The Annuity Advisor and Tools & Techniques of Retirement Income Planning, and appears regularly in numerous financial publications, including AdvisorOne.

Invest N Retire Appoints Fleites as CEO

Invest n Retire LLC recently announced the appointment of Agustin (Gus) Fleites as chief executive officer. Currently managing director of Boston-based Beta Capital Advisors, LLC, Fleites brings over 20 years of experience as both as an investment manager and business leader.

Formerly he was at State Street Global Advisors. He was also a director of CitiStreet, a State Street-Citigroup venture in defined contribution benefit plan administration services, and is the former president of SSgA Funds Management, Inc.

Citi Private Bank Announces Robert Martin Joins Houston Office

Citi Private Bank announced March 21 that Robert (Todd) Martin has joined the firm as managing director and ultra-high-net-worth private banker. He is based in Houston and will report to Russ Labrasca, head of the Houston office.

Martin brings more than 30 years of banking experience in sales, lending and relationship management, and joins from Wells Fargo, where he was most recently senior vice president and director of client management, Southwest region. Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 2000, he spent five years at Bank of America where he held senior roles as a wealth advisor. He started his career in 1979 at Texas Commerce Bank.

IMCA Hires Jim Dobbs as Director of Education

Jim DobbsInvestment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) announced March 21 that Jim Dobbs (left) has joined the association as director of education. In this position, he will develop and improve in-person and online learning products and platforms. Prior to this, he served as a certification consultant and program director for IMCA’s Certified Private Wealth Advisor certification program for approximately six years.

Earlier, he worked in the financial services arena as a consultant and educator for more than 20 years. He founded and managed the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) registered financial planning certificate programs at The University of Texas at Austin and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He also worked as director of education for the CFP Board. He founded Dobbs Wealth, a fee-only financial planning and investment advisory practice serving private clients, and worked for several financial services firms, including Mercer, Citigroup, Ameriprise Financial and the investment banking firm Sanders Morris Harris.

National Planning Holdings Names Hayn Vice President of Retirement Plans

National Planning Holdings Inc. (NPH) announced Monday that it has named Frank Hayn as vice president of retirement plans. In this new position, he will be tasked with supporting existing retirement plan business on the NPH platform, as well as helping NPH representatives grow their practices in the qualified plan space.

He will report to John C. Johnson, first vice president of sponsor relations for NPH, and will be based in Santa Monica.
