Shore Morgan Young Wealth Strategies, a wealth-management firm in Columbus, Ohio, chose Capital Analysts of Cincinnati as its broker-dealer and registered investment advisor on Friday.

“It is the unique nature of how Capital Analysts conducts business that convinced us that partnering with them can help us serve our clients better,” said Lew Shore,a principal of Shore Morgan Young, in a press release. “Shore Morgan Young’s main objectiveis to provide professional service and support in the most cost-effective manner possible, and our new relationship with Capital Analysts will allow us to achieve that objective.”

Cincinnati-based Capital Analysts, a member of Western & Southern Financial Group, launched a flat-fee affiliation model in 2009, with a hybrid platform for both brokerage and fee business and an advisor portal with integrated technology.

According to Capital Analysts CEO and President Matt Lynch, more than 330 financial advisors are affiliated with Capital Analysts and do business through its flat-fee model. The group, he notes, has $8 billion-plus in assets under management, mainly via advisors who are dully registered as RIAs and registered reps.

“Shore Morgan Young, like several other firms that have joined us recently, has more than $400 million in assets under management,” said Lynch (left) in an interview on Friday with AdvisorOne. “We focus on the firms with $100 million in assets and up that provide comprehensive wealth-management services for high-net-worth clients.”

“These firms are large enough to form their own broker-dealers,” he explained, “but are attracted to us given our other affiliates. Advisors like what they see in our technology and transparency around the flat fee, and our asset-management platform is quite strong. These financial professionals like to be independent, but they also like to be in a community of peers. That’s a key factor in our success and ability to continually attract large firms in the industry to our platform.”

Jon Morgan, another principal of Shore Morgan Young, explained in a statement, “In addition to eliminating a number of fees, Capital Analysts provides us access to expanded investment opportunities, improved technical support, and best-of-breed investment tracking and portfolio monitoring systems.
