The new IRSAC members will start 3-year terms in January 2012.

The council can have a total of up to 35 members.

Members of the council review existing tax policies and also recommend policy changes.

Federally registered lobbyists cannot be members of the committee, but the committee does include enrolled actuaries, tax attorneys, accountants, business community representatives and others.

Members are not paid for their services, but the government covers travel expenses.

Applications are due June 17.
