The House and Senate begin opening remarks of the conference debate to reconcile their versions of financial services reform legislation at 2:15 on Thursday, June 10. The public service cable network C-SPAN has agreed to provide coverage of all open sessions, which includes opening day, of the House and Senate conference debate. A final list of House conferees was released Wednesday night by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts), will chair the conference committee.
According to the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the conferee members are expected to work on specific provisions of the bill from June 15 to 17 and June 22 to 24, with the goal of reaching an agreement on or before June 26. The goal is to have a final bill to President Obama by July 4.
