Vanguard says that shares of the High Dividend Yield Index Fund (VHDYX) can now be bought by individual investors, institutions and financial advisors.

In a separate move, Vanguard has re-opened the Strategic Equity Fund and increased the fund's minimum initial investment to $10,000. In addition, the $25,000 annual investment limit on Vanguard Windsor II and Wellington Funds has been removed.

The John Hancock Greater China Opportunities Fund (JCOAX) has surpassed $100 million in assets under management, according to the company. Launched in June 2005, the fund is sub-advised by MFC Global Investment Management and led by Hong Kong-based senior portfolio manager Pauline Dan.

The John Hancock Greater DWS Scudder has hired Richard David Jameison Jr. and Jason P. Caruso from Fidelity Investments and Franklin Templeton Investments, respectively. Both have been top-producing wholesalers. According to Strategic Insight, DWS Scudder had some $64 billion in long-term fund assets under management as of September 2006, making it one of the nation's largest 25 long-term fund asset managers.
