Aetna Inc., Hartford, will be renting access to a national dental provider network to individuals who do not have Aetna dental insurance.[@@]

The company’s Vital Savings card program will offer participants access to 53,000 Aetna Dental Access dental care providers for a “low” monthly or annual fee, Aetna says.

Discounts on provider services will average about 28%, Aetna estimates.

Program members also will get discounts on vision care services.

Aetna began offering the discount program to groups with at least 300 employees and retirees in October 2003. The new program expansion makes the program available to employers with at least 51 employees as well as to individual consumers.
