NU Online News Service, Jan. 29, 2004, 5:36 p.m. EST – The meetings department of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., “no longer exists,” says NAIC spokesman Matt Brisch.[@@]

The NAIC made the decision to cut the department in the last few days after “an in-depth review of conflicts of interest,” Brisch says.

The meetings department has been responsible for the NAIC’s four quarterly national meetings. These meetings draw attendance of about 1,500 industry representatives.
