NU Online News Service, Nov. 10, 2003, 5:49 p.m. EST – Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, has published “Innovation At Work: A Guide To Best Practices In Employee Benefits.”

The guide discusses the benefit programs at what Principal says are the 10 Best Companies for Employee Financial Security.

Principal came up with the 10 best list to recognize excellence in benefits programs at businesses with five to 1,000 employees. The companies on the list do not necessarily spend more on benefits than other companies, but the plans that the companies offer help cut the average voluntary turnover rate to 4%, from a national average of about 9%, Principal says.

The guidebook includes a checklist to help employers identify gaps in their own benefits programs and a tool to help companies compare their benefits programs with the benefits programs of similar companies.

Principal has posted a copy of the new guide at http://www.principal.com/10best
