TA Associates Invests $60 Million in Research Firm

NU Online News Service, Nov. 3, 2003, 10:38 a.m. EST – TA Associates, Boston, has invested $60 million in the Center for Financial Research & Analysis Inc., Rockville, Md., an independent financial research firm.

The center, founded in 1994, provides “buy side” stock research for insurers as well as banks, fund managers, accounting firms and securities brokerage firms. It pays particular attention to the quality of corporate accounting and disclosure practices.

TA Associates is a business financing firm.

Howard Schilit, the founder and chief executive of the center, will stay on as director of research, TA Associates says. A. Bruce Johnston, a managing director at TA Associates, and Jonathan Meeks, a vice president at TA Associates, will join the center’s board.
