NU Online News Service, Oct. 7, 2003, 5:40 p.m. EST – Aquilan Group Inc., San Antonio, Texas, has agreed to bundle life insurance communications software from PilotFish Technology L.L.C., Wethersfield, Conn., together with its own software.

Aquilan sells Patriot Manager, a system for complying with the USA Patriot Act. The act requires life insurers to check to make sure that applicants and customers are not on the government’s list of suspected terrorists, money launderers and drug traffickers.

Patriot Manager screens customer profiles, financial activity and transactions for clues that individuals might be trying to launder money or conduct other suspicious activity.

PilotFish sells PilotFish XMLife Communications Suite, a set of tools for handling data in the XML format developed by the Association for Cooperative Research and Development, Pearl River, N.Y., and putting data in the ACORD XML format.

ACORD is promoting the format as a standard that will help insurers automate the process of combining data from different computers and different companies.
