Coventry Reports 24% Gain In Premiums Per Insured Member

NU Online News Service, July 29, 2003, 11:45 a.m. EDT – Coventry Health Care Inc., Bethesda, Md., is reporting $63 million in net income for the second quarter on $1.1 billion in revenue, up from $37 million in net income on $890 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2002.

The managed care company ended the quarter providing or administering medical insurance for 2.2 million people, up from 2.1 million people a year earlier.

Average managed care premium per insured member increased 24%, to $624.
