N.C. Blue Reports Higher 2nd Quarter Net Income

NU Online News Service, Aug. 9, 1:47 p.m. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C., is reporting $19 million in net income for the second quarter on $727 million in revenue, up from $13 million in net income on $449 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2001.

North Carolina Blue ended the quarter providing or administering major medical coverage for 2.7 million people, up from 2.1 million people a year earlier.

Average premium revenue per insured member increased 16%, to $599.
