Wells Fargo Brokerage Users Report Trading Service Outage

Wells Fargo online customers reported issues with trading, brokerage and logins.

Wells Fargo brokerage customers turned to social media Thursday morning to report problems accessing their accounts.

The outage monitoring site Downdetector received more than 500 problem reports on Wells Fargo by 10 a.m. Eastern time and the number reached 565 around 10:45, with 74% related to trading and brokerage, 19% to login and 9% to account balance or transactions.

“Can’t get on Wells Fargo Advisors. I suppose I could call but that is inconvenient. Said that service is unavailable try later. Kid you not,” one Downdetector user posted.

Around the same time, on X, formerly Twitter, someone asked Wells Fargo why the online brokerage WellsTrade “is out of service today.” The person showed a screen shot of a message saying their account details were unavailable because of a connectivity error.

“#WellsFargo is great today…..can’t log into the brokerage and if you call, you’re waiting for over an hour if it ever gets answered,” another X user wrote.

A Wells Fargo spokesperson told ThinkAdvisor by email in the afternoon:  “We are aware that some WellsTrade clients were experiencing intermittent issues with our online services. The issue is now resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
