Chase Customers Again Report Missing Money, Wrong Balances

Chase online banking users complained that transfers from Venmo, CashApp, Uber and PayPal weren't showing in their accounts.

Chase Bank customers reported incorrect balances and missing transactions Wednesday, social media posts show.

Outage and technical glitch monitoring site Downdetector reported over 400 problem reports for Chase at one point Wednesday, although the number had fallen to 165 by about 2:40 p.m. Account balances and missing transactions accounted for 84% of the reports, the site noted.

“Balance is incorrect and transactions after noon aren’t showing,” one user posted.

People reported that funds transferred from Venmo, Cash App, Uber and PayPal weren’t showing up in their accounts. Some Downdetector users reported long wait times with Chase customer service.

“What if someone had an emergency or needed (their) money asap what are we as the customer suppose to do when banks keep our hard earned $$$ from us. I’m done with Chase,” another Downdetector user wrote.

People on X, formerly Twitter, reported similar problems, including purchases not appearing on their accounts.

Chase representatives didn’t immediately respond to an email message seeking comment.

Chase customers complained about similar problems multiple times recently, including earlier this month and in September and June; in August, some investors reported problems executing trades on Chase’s app and online platform.

Customers at some other banks have reported account problems recently as well.
