Fraternal Life Insurer to Help Members Update Skills

Foresters will offer up to 375 education and training grants per year.

Foresters Financial — a member-owned fraternal life insurer — has come up with a new way to help its members cope with change.

The Toronto-based insurer is offering its 2 million members a continuing education support program.

The Foresters Renew program will provide grants for members who want to add or update skills related to their professional goals, Foresters announced Wednesday.

What It Means

Foresters said starting the program is a way to help members cope with uncertainty.

“Many of our members are faced with uncertain times as the world of work has transformed with digital and technological advancements post-pandemic,” the company said. “There is a new-found need to future-proof people’s skills and ease this transition for those who want and need to learn and grow.”

Program Details

The Foresters Renew program will be available to Foresters members in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Skills grant applicants must be Foresters members, in good standing and at least 18 years old.

Successful applicants can use the grants to pay for college courses, adult education courses, technical school courses and recertifications for existing licenses.

Members cannot use the grants to pay for dependents’ education.

Foresters hopes to provide 375 grants per year.

The grants will amount to a maximum of 1,000 Canadian in Canada, 1,000 pounds in the United Kingdom and $1,000 in the United States.
