Board Names Tony Cheng to Lead RGA

Anna Manning will continue to be the life reinsurer's CEO until the end of the year.

The board of Reinsurance Group of America has picked Tony Cheng to succeed Anna Manning as the company’s president and CEO.

Manning will continue to be the CEO of the life reinsurance company until Dec. 31, 2023.

Cheng took over as RGA’s president Wednesday. He also joined the Chesterfield, Missouri-based reinsurer’s board.

RGA has $83 billion in assets and $3.3 trillion of life reinsurance in force.

Cheng began working for RGA in 1997. He has been an executive vice president and head of RGA’s operations in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia since November 2021.

Manning joined RGA as a pricing actuary in 2007. She has been the company’s CEO since 2017.

Stephen O’Hearn, the RGA chair, praised Manning’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that she “successfully led the organization through a pandemic of unforeseen scale in modern history.”
