Q1 Life, Health and Annuity Earnings Calendar: Rates, Inflation and COVID-19

This is when the worlds of insurance and Wall Street collide.

Publicly traded U.S. companies are once against posting their quarterly results, and once again holding public conference calls with securities analysts.

The calls can give insurance agents, investment advisors and retirement planners an idea of how investors see insurers and their products.

This earnings release season, the list of popular topics is likely to include rising interest rates, inflation and the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.

You and your clients may want a life insurance policy or annuity that offers X, Y and Z, but, ultimately the insurer has to earn enough on the product to send money to the investors, through dividends and share buybacks, or the analysts on the calls will start asking about “strategic alternatives.”

If you’re not an analyst, you’ll have to listen in listen-only mode, but you can listen to live streams of the calls online, and you can also listen to recordings of the calls for at least a few weeks after. You can find links to call access information in the investor relations sections on insurers’ websites.

Investor websites like Seeking Alpha and Motley Fool post transcripts of many of the calls.
