Retirement Income Group Backs Elton John

The Alliance for Lifetime Income earlier sponsored a Rolling Stones tour.

The Alliance for Lifetime Income is working with Elton John — who will turn 75 on March 25 — to try to get U.S. consumers interested in retirement income planning.

The Washington-based annuity awareness group is the presenting partner of John’s Yellow Brick Road Tour in North America.

The tour began Jan. 19 in New Orleans and is set to end Nov. 20 in Los Angeles.

Jean Statler, CEO of the alliance, says the group is backing the singer because he is an example of living life to the fullest, on his own terms.

The alliance sees the sponsorship as a way to educate Americans about the need to have a financial plan that includes protected income from an annuity, Statler adds.

The alliance itself experienced the need to plan for the unexpected earlier, when it served as sole sponsor of the Rolling Stones’ 2020 No Filter tour. The tour was set to begin May 8, 2020, in San Diego and end July 9 in Atlanta.

Tour organizers ended up having to reschedule and rearrange the tour dates when the COVID-19 pandemic swept in — and jolted the retirement savings and investment arrangements of many Americans who were not making much use of defined benefit pensions, annuities or other arrangements designed to buffer people against market volatility.

What It Means

The alliance partnership does not mean that retail agents can put Elton John’s photo or music on their websites. Teams of copyright protection specialists typically guard the intellectual property of performers such as Elton John with technology-enhanced enthusiasm.

But agents can like, share and reply to alliance social media posts about Elton John — and possibly, get the attention of ordinary people who know nothing about retirement planning but scour the internet for any scraps of news or gossip about Elton John.

Agents can also write their own print articles, web articles and social media posts about the relationship between Elton John and retirement planning.
