Annuity Industry Players Would Like Everyone's Attention

The National Association for Fixed Annuities is observing National Annuity Awareness Month by sounding the alarms.

NAFA, the National Association for Fixed Annuities, is asking agents, brokers and others to help it sound the alarm and warn the public that the baby boomers are continuing to get older.

NAFA wants financial professionals to cut through the COVID-19 pandemic blahs and tell consumers about this month’s National Annuity Awareness Month outreach campaign.

The Washington-based group has organized a Coalition for Annuity Awareness to support the month, and it’s distributing an awareness content toolkit.

The toolkit includes fliers, white papers, social media content, a sample presentation, digital marketing materials, a coloring book and “We Love Annuities” stickers.

NAFA hopes to drive home the message that the financial hardship caused by COVID-19 has made planning for retirement income more important than ever.

Jean Statler, the CEO of the Alliance for Lifetime Income, said in a comment on the awareness month campaign that more Americans will turn 65 in the next three years than ever before.

“We’re running out of time to help them protect part of their retirement savings to cover basic expenses so they don’t go bankrupt,” Statler said. “Now is the time to double down on education and the commitment to being part of the solution.”

Awareness coalition backers include the American Council of Life Insurers, the Alliance for Lifetime Income, Finseca, the Insured Retirement Institute and the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors.

The list of insurers and distributors support the campaign includes Allianz, American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company, AmeriLife, Athene, Brokers International, Delaware Life, EquiTrust Life Insurance Co., Global Atlantic Financial Group, Great American Insurance Group, Lincoln Financial Group, Nasdaq, National Western Life Insurance Company, Nationwide, North American and SILAC Insurance Company

Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and the District of Columbia have all agreed to make this month Annuity Awareness Month.

Why This Matters

The retirement clock is ticking. Financial professionals have a unique ability to tell consumers what to do about it.
