LPL Shares Details on Virtual Focus Conference

The annual conference for its indie advisors had been set to take place this month in Chicago.

LPL Financial President & CEO Dan Arnold.

LPL Financial says this year’s annual conference is set to take place online from Aug. 19 to 21 a month later than than the original in-person event in Chicago, which was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to LPL executives, featured speakers include Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell. Registration is now open for the gathering, which is free for advisors.

“Since we can’t bring our advisors to Focus this year, we are bringing Focus to them,” according to Andy Kalbaugh, head of National Sales and Consulting for the firm.

Some industry events, such as BNY Mellon Pershing’s Insite, have been canceled due to COVID-19, while Morningstar has moved its yearly investment conference online.

LPL’s yearly event, which typically draws 7,000 advisors and other attendees, will include support staff this year and they’ll have their own “content track,” LPL says.

Also, there will be a digital expo center with home-office staff and sponsor booths. It will feature technology demonstrations and networking rooms.
