Waddell & Reed Adds Advisors With $701M

Three of the nine new advisors come from Edward Jones, while the rest join from Cetera and other firms.

Waddell & Reed Inc. just added nine more advisors in the past six weeks with combined assets under administration of $701 million and yearly fees and commissions of $3.4 million.

Year to date, the Overland Park, Kansas-based firm has added 22 new advisors. Overall, the firm has some $52 billion AUA, about $23 billion of which is handled by its 922 financial advisors as of March 30.

The advisors come from a variety of firms. Previously with Edward Jones are Andrew Stenzel of Boulder, Colorado, Yoko Lawing of North Platte, Nebraska, and Christopher Anderson of Campbell, California.

Kevin Albrecht of Bridgewater, New Jersey, was previously with Cetera. T. Michael Hodgan Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii, was with Pensionmark Securities and Adrienne Alvarez of Irvine, California, was with US Bankcorp Investments.

Marc Hollendoner of Oak Brook, Illinois, comes from Fifth Third Securities, while Lawrence King of Temecula, California worked with Mutual Securities and Roger Buller of Wichita, Kansas, was affiliated with Benjamin F. Edwards & Co.

According to Investment Advisor’s 2020 President’s Poll, Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors’ broker-dealer had gross revenues in 2019 of $513.8 million.

Fee-based revenues were $267.5 million in 2019, and total AUM in fee-based programs was $27 billion. Average gross dealer concessions or yearly production per advisor was $379,100. Average AUM per rep was $64 million.

According to its first quarter 2020 results, Waddell & Reed advisors had average trailing 12-month production of $462,000. The firm also has a total of 1,316 financial professionals.
