Janney Adds Reps From Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo: Recruiting Roundup

Meanwhile, LPL has recruited a team in North Carolina that serves pro athletes.

Janney Montgomery Scott has added five financial advisors with a total of close to $375 million in client assets. They come on board from Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo and Raymond James. 

Jimmy Hare joined Janney’s Goldsboro, North Carolina, branch office from Wells Fargo, where he worked with $124.5 million in assets. 

Abraham Horowitz made the move to Janney in Miami from Morgan Stanley, where he managed $106 million

Seger Wealth Management led by Thomas Seger is now with Janney in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He was formerly associated with Raymond James and has overseen $69 million.

Daniel Fisher joined the firm and set up May Fisher Wealth Management with existing Janney advisor Jeramy May. The new team is located in Columbus; earlier Fisher was with Wells Fargo, where he worked with $52 million.

Sheryl Oswald moved to Janney in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from Morgan Stanley and oversees $23 million.  

Recruiting at Raymond James

For its part, Raymond James’ independent channel welcomed a team in Dallas from Northwestern Mutual with four advisors and $640 million. The advisors making the move are Chris Messick,CFP; David Peacock; Alex Taylor, CFP; and Matt Sibley, CFP. 

The group does business as Messick Peacock & Associates. The advisors are joined by Chief Operating Officer Lynda Roman, Marketing Manager Whitney Goellner, Senior Client Services Manager Caleb Lamb, Client Services Manager Marlon Medrano and Executive Assistant Marsha Hale.

“After conducting our extensive due diligence process, we realized that Raymond James was the perfect fit for us,” said Messick, in a statement.

“We are in a financial and economic environment that is constantly evolving, and Raymond James keeps up with these trends and changes by providing innovative technology, resources and support,” he added.

Messick spent 27 years at Northwestern Mutual and recently earned his Certified Private Wealth Advisor designation from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. 

Peacock has over 25 years of financial services experience and was with Northwestern Mutual for 22 years.

LPL Adds Team That Advises Pro Athletes

LPL Financial says it has recruited SilverRock Wealth Partners to its broker-dealer and that the team is affiliating with RIA Independent Advisor Alliance. The SilverRock advisors work with about $150 million in assets and join LPL from Spire Securities, where they used TD Ameritrade as their custodian.

SilverRock is led by President and CEO Derek Copeland. The team, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, works with NFL clients and other professional athletes.

One of the team’s members, Chris Carpenter, pitched for the Boston Red Sox; another, Brenton Bersin, is a former Carolina Panthers wide receiver. They are joined by operations manager Lisa Oviatt and Lori Copeland, director of marketing.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based RIA Captrust says the Welch Hornsby group has joined it. The group is led by Chairman and CEO Edward V. Welch, Jr., who is coming on board along with 14 advisors and research professionals as well as 12 other staff. 

Welsh Hornsby works with $5.5 billion in assets under advisement and also has offices in Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Its clients include 34 retirement plan sponsors.
