Eight College Teams to Face Off at Financial Planning Meet
The top three teams will receive scholarships for studies at their respective schools.
Eight finalists have been chosen to compete in the final rounds of the 2019 Financial Planning Challenge. They will go head to head at the 2019 FPA Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is set for Oct. 16–18.
The eight teams in the finals are: Edinboro University, Kansas State University, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, the University of Akron, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Utah Valley University and Western Kentucky University.
The three-stage contest, jointly sponsored by the Financial Planning Association, Ameriprise Financial and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, takes place in three stages and is limited to undergraduate students of finance in programs registered with the CFP Board or in related fields of study.
“The Financial Planning Challenge provides a unique opportunity for students to put theory into practice,” according to CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller.
The finalists are done with the first stage, which entailed writing a financial- planning case study. During the final two stages — which will take place at the FPA event — the students will present their case studies and then take part in a financial-planning-themed game show: the “How Do You Know?” Challenge.
