Close to 4,000 Cetera Financial Group advisors, as well as employees of the independent broker-dealer network, raised $210,000 for youth at its recent national conference in Denver.

Funds raised via Caring Cetera will fund Youth on Record, a group with a program that focuses on getting musicians into high school classrooms to support academic success.

“We were proud to fund-raise for Youth on Record this year, to help children and teens in the area through music: students who engage in music outperform their peers in GPA, graduation rates & standardized tests,” according to Cetera Chief Financial Officer Jeff Buchheister.

Cetera advisors and staff formed Caring Cetera in 2011; those affiliated with or employed by First Allied Securities and Summit Brokerage participate in Caring Cetera philanthropic and fundraising efforts year-round.

(The firm’s broker-dealer network also includes Cetera Advisors, Cetera Advisor Networks, Cetera Financial Institutions and Cetera Financial Specialists.)

At Cetera’s national conference last year, the foundation raised $207,000 for Soldier’s Angels, which sends letters and care packages to soldiers.

“With their generous donation, Youth on Record’s program will continue to empower thousands of teens in some of Denver’s most vulnerable communities to make life choices that positively impact their future by teaching them to develop … coping tools and inspiration to succeed in today’s world and to become leaders of tomorrow,” according to Jami Duffy, executive director of Youth on Record.

Other Caring Cetera efforts have supported Girls Inc., the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s stock market games in Los Angeles, Youth Emergency Children Services and Shelter in Des Moines, Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, Illinois, Junior Achievement in Denver, United Way in Atlanta, and the San Diego LGBT Youth Center in California.
