Raymond James Financial said Wednesday that a veteran Merrill Lynch advisor has joined it in the greater Detroit area.

Michael A. Rosner, who has 18 years in the business, now works in the Farmington Hills, Michigan, office of Raymond James & Associates. He has about $110 million in client assets and annual fees and commissions of roughly $1.2 million.

The employee advisor will conduct business as Rosner Private Wealth Management of Raymond James.

"We are delighted to welcome Michael to our office," said Complex Manager Alp Onder, in a statement. "His client-first focus aligns closely with that of Raymond James, making him a great addition to our firm."

"Although relatively young, at 38, Michael has a proven record of success and even greater potential as he seeks to broadly meet his clients' financial needs; so we're pleased he discovered the Raymond James tools, resources and support available to help him grow his business," explained Onder.

Rosner has been in the business for 18 years and started his financial-services career by working for Equitable Life and AXA Advisors selling insurance. He moved to Merrill Lynch in Farmington Hills in 2000 as a member of its two-year financial advisor training program.

The advisor then switched to Morgan Stanley in 2002, where he spent three years. He then rejoined Merrill Lynch and has been there for the past 11 years.

"I was attracted to Raymond James for many reasons," said Rosner in a press release, "but chief among them was the ability to put my clients' interests first, to offer them a wide range of services and not be limited in how many 'colors I can paint with,' or how I engage and interact with their financial lives. I also liked the fact the firm is primarily a wealth-management firm where over 60% of its revenues are derived from its private client group."

The advisor said that before making the switch he "wondered if the 'grass really was greener' at Raymond James." He spoke with several former colleagues who also had moved to Raymond James and was "totally reassured." Plus, he says, his clients "are pleased, and I am reinvigorated by the move."

Raymond James has about 7,100 advisors and $608 billion in client assets in the U.S., Canada and United Kingdom.
