Shepard Smith destroys Ebola hysteria in 4 minutes flat

“(Long sigh.) For the next few minutes I’m going to give you the facts on Ebola. It’ll take just three minutes.” That’s how FOX News anchor Shepard Smith starts off his really serious, straight-to-the-point and fact-ridden segment about Ebola. In an attempt to defuse mass hysteria, Smith describes the different facts and truths about what we know of this infectious disease today (you can watch the video below).

“But first, today, given what we know, you should have no concerns about Ebola at all, none, I promise. Unless a medical professional has contacted you personally and told you of some sort of possible exposure, fear not. Do not listen to the hysterical voices on the radio or television or read the fear-provoking words online. The people who say or write hysterical things are being very irresponsible,” says Shepard, showing a lot of restraint and seriousness during the newscast that was first aired on Wednesday and has been going viral on social media ever since.

Shepard then dives into the details of how Ebola made it to the U.S. and how the two workers contracted the virus at Texas Presbyterian hospital. He then brings politics in to the mix… “Now, big picture, and this is important, you have to remember that in the middle of all of this there is (sic) politics in the mix. With mid-term elections coming, the party in charge needs to appear to be effectively leading; the party out of power needs to show that there is lack of leadership,” says Shepard.
