Swiss Re to sell Aurora National Life

Swiss Re Ltd. is reported to be in talks to sell Aurora National Life Assurance Co. as part of plans to pull out from the U.S. life and health insurance markets.

Bloomberg discloses that Barclays Plc is helping Swiss Re find buyers for Aurora National and some of the insurer’s other assets in the U.S.

One of Bloomberg’s sources estimated that Swiss Re could raise more than $400 million from the sale, which would include approximately $5 billion in insurance assets, such as life insurance owned by corporations and other policies and annuities.
