Florida is great, but perhaps you find it too crowded, too hot, or too expensive. Or maybe you want to spend your retirement years in a place that actually made Bankrate’s list of the 10 most retiree-friendly states, which Florida did not make. How about Tennessee with its amenable climate and low cost of living? How about Nebraska or South Dakota? Sure, they’re a little colder in the winter but the low crime rate and low taxes can temper most chills.
