Why the Internet makes it hard to procrastinate

The Internet, in all its informative glory, is vast and fast; too fast to possibly read it all. With that, good content goes missed. Pocket, formerly Read It Later, is a new service that attempts to effectively pause the Internet until a time you can read that article, watch that video later. The service’s 7.4 million users saved 240 million pieces of digital content this year—up from 170 million pieces between 2007 and 2011—a rate of 10.4 articles per second. That is just a small percentage of the content being created each second, but as users increase and more services come online, that percentage will go up and missed content will go down. The Internet will be effectively harnessed and bend to our schedules.
