Gauging the fiscal cliff

A clear spike has been noted in Internet search results for “the fiscal cliff.” The topic, which has been of concern to analysts in the financial industry for some time, is now trending online.

The chart below is an easy-to-understand, consolidated explanation of the fiscal cliff components just released by me and the firm I founded, LJPR, which manages more than $470 million in assets.

This chart focuses on the magnitude of each component of the cliff, danger zones, who is impacted — and to what extent — as well as likely fixes and the probability of those fixes actually taking place. Much of it is based on a white paper I authored about the fiscal cliff over a year ago that has been widely distributed.

I believe this chart is far-reaching and a valuable resource to most individuals, directly addressing the biggest tax increase/spending cut in history.
