Health insurers are increasingly opening local stores, where customers can stop in to talk to reps about buying a plan or resolve questions about their coverage. Some stores sponsor health fairs and nutrition talks; others have primary care providers on site.

The trend is expected to continue as long as PPACA remains intact. The need for individual plans will grow as health coverage becomes mandatory, so switching from a wholesale to a retail strategy will likely be more effective for insurers.
